Christmas Celebrations, Concerts,
Buffets, Gift Boutique & Mini-Vacation

Two diverse weekends of music for the holiday season highlight the 30th annual series of Christmas concerts and buffet dinners, plus the eleventh annual Christmas Crafts Boutique, this December.

December 12-14, 2008

Buddy Greene & Mount Hermon's own David Talbott team up again for an eclectic evening of music for the Christmas season.  Buddy brings a wide variety of traditional American influences to his music, from country and bluegrass to folk, gospel and traditional blues. In addition to his solid reputation as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, Buddy has established himself as one of Nashville's finest harmonica stylists, having played on the recordings of artists and friends like Jerry Reed, Charlie Peacock, Riders in the Sky, Bela Fleck, and many others.  A favorite at Mount Hermon for almost 20 years. David Talbott has been Mount Hermon's resident musician for 30 years, playing concerts on both piano and organ.  He has recorded seven albums of his instrumental improvisations.  He will play both instruments in the concerts, including Mount Hermon's spectacular new Rodgers Touring Organ. Buddy and David will also feature several of their moving duets that have inspired audiences here for years.

December 19-21, 2008

The Burchfield Brothers return to highlight the second weekend, December 13-16, with their classical guitar and mallet kat--a marimba-like instrument with MIDI that can summon the whole orchestra.  Jon and Benji Burdchfield live in Tennessee.  Their wide variety of musical styles, from "Flight of the Bumblebee"  and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," to tender hymns, ballads, funky bluegrass, and Christmas standards, have endeared them to Mount Hermon audiences for several years. Young and old alike are intrigued with the mallet kat, so the concerts are great for the whole family.

Both concerts also feature audience carolling.

Guests may come for the boutique and/or concert alone, or opt for the overnight mini-vacation package in Mount Hermon’s hotel units. Reservations for all nights are open now.

Gift Boutique
The eight-day boutique sale has been scheduled during concert days, with a huge display of Christmas gift items, including baked goods for late holiday plans. Organized by Mount Hermon staff wives, the event is held in the Lower Dining Hall all afternoon before the evening concerts and buffets, and features over 30 booths.

The concerts are at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Buffet seatings precede the concerts.

The cost per person for the buffet and concert is just $18.00 for adults, including beverage, dessert, and gratuity, and $9.00 for children 4–12. While there is no charge for the concerts, due to limited seating, guests must purchase a buffet ticket in order to attend the concert. A freewill offering is taken at each concert for Mount Hermon’s expenses.

Mini-Vacation Option
Families may take advantage of special reduced hotel package prices of $82.50 per person (double occupancy) per night, or $137.00 for single occupancy, and enjoy a mini-vacation at Mount Hermon. (A third adult in the same room is just $28.00, and children 4–12 in the same room are $14.00 each.) The price includes the buffet dinner, concert admission, deluxe overnight accommodations, and a continental breakfast the next morning. (The mini-vacation is not available with the Sunday concerts on December 9and 16.)

To complete the Saturday mini-vacation, a public worship service is held Sunday morning at 10 A.M. on both mornings.

Most events last year were sold out, so friends are encouraged to register early for the best choice of evenings and/or accommodations.  For dinner reservations and/or overnight reservations, call the Mount Hermon Registration Office, toll-free, at 1-888-MH-CAMPS.
