Developing Leaders to Impact Their World

CILT is a two-week camp experience for students entering 11th–12th grades that focuses on developing young leaders for ministry. During the first week students receive training in leadership, facilitating small groups, sharing the gospel and discovering how God has uniquely designed each one of them for life and ministry. The second week gives students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the context of camping ministry either at Redwood Camp or Ponderosa Lodge. Most CILTs continue on to serve and lead in their local church setting. The CILT program requires an application

Distinctives

Amenities (during second week)

Boating

Canoe or Rowboat 1/2 mile up Zayante Creek through the overhanging trees.

Crafts

There's always something cool and exciting to make to help you remember your time at camp. Crafts range in ability and appeal for all ages and our counselors make craft time fun for girls and boys.

Archery

Practice perfection with our staff at the shooting range by challenging each other with accuracy or just by improving your personal skills in a controlled environment.

Geronimo Jump

Plunge off the platform (with a harness and a helmet expertly secured of course) in this uniquely designed high adventure element that allows you to swing out over the creek for a perspective of Redwood Camp unlike any other!

Flying Squirrel

With your harness attached to a cable high in the redwoods, allow your team to lift you high into the air and get a chance to see Redwood Camp like the squirrels do.

Redwood Camp Pool

Swimmers may enjoy our heated 25-yard pool with diving board and enclosed slide.

Redwood Tree House

The Tree House is the coolest place on camp! Up in the trees, get your chance to play with your friends in your cabin, climb around, slide down and explore in the world's coolest tree house!

Redwood Target Sports

Try your hand at slingshots, archery and BB Guns. With our trained staff, you'll be able to aim at the targets and take your best shot. Will you get a bullseye?

Camperships

Please do not let finances get in the way of a Mount Hermon experience. Through the generosity of many, a partial grant from the Campership Fund may be just the gift you need to make it possible for you to attend camp. For more information and an application, please contact our friendly Registration staff.

Prepare

Packing List

Please mark all items, including luggage, with the camper’s last name and initial to aid in identification in event of loss.

  • Bible, notebook, and pen
  • Warm, comfortable sleeping bag or bedding, pillow and pajamas, Warm sweatshirt or sweater—nights and mornings are cold
  • Modest bathing suit, beach towel and sunscreen!! (You will be asked to wear a shirt over your swimsuit if it is deemed immodest)
  • Bath towel, washcloth and toiletry items (i.e. hair care products, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.)
  • Comfortable shoes, tennis shoes, and sandals
  • Laundry bag, Detergent, Coins for Laundry
  • Flashlight
  • One set of grubby clothes that can truly get dirty
  • Outdoor type clothes—old clothes are just right for camping (jeans and t-shirts). Please only bring modest clothing with appropriate t-shirt graphics.
  • Water Bottle
  • Backpack which will be super useful in the second week when looking after campers

Optional Items

  • Musical instrument
  • Skateboard, bicycle, etc.
  • Spending money for extras, such as the bookstore, crafts, soda fountain, or camp picture, camp t-shirts, ect. About $30.00–$40.00 per week is usually sufficient. Campers are responsible for keeping their own money.

Items we ask you leave at home

  • Do NOT bring cell phones or iPods, electronic games, mp3 players, CD players, animals, or magazines. Really, please don’t bring these…
  • Do NOT bring firearms, weapons, drugs, alcohol or cigarettes. If you bring any of these items we will lock them up for the duration of camp.
Arrival

For the Redwood Camp events, please plan to arrive at Redwood Camp on Sunday afternoon between 4:00-5:00pm. For Ponderosa Lodge, please plan on arriving between 4:00 and 6:00pm.

Your counselor and the director of the CILT Program will greet you. Orientation will begin immediately. If you find that you will arrive late, please call us to assure that your place will be kept rather than released to the waiting list.

Departure

Camp will conclude on the final Saturday. Family members are invited to attend our Closing Program.

For Redwood Camp events the Closing Program is at 8:45am and camp concludes at 9:45am For Ponderosa Lodge events the Closing Program is at 10:15am and camp concludes at 11:00am

Health Insurance card

Please bring a copy of your insurance card: a current copy is mandatory to receive treatment in case of emergency.
