Kidder Creek is located in one of Northern California’s greatest landscapes and is surrounded with world-class mountain bike trails. We’re excited to share this amazing trail bounty with you in a new adult adventure based format. With creation as our backdrop we’ll enjoy a weekend like no other and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Your weekend will be packed with both purpose built flow trails and natural singletrack wonders as we shuttle the Shastice trail system in Mount Shasta and the epic 12 mile downhill trail at Mount Ashland. We’ll also have ample opportunity to enjoy the rustic charm of Ranch Camp at Kidder Creek and the on-site single track trails and pump track.

All of this is led by your trusty trail guides, who are certified IMBA Level 2 coaches, and will help take your riding to the next level. While this is a riding retreat and not a skills camp, you will come away with tips and tricks to make your riding stronger.

When you’re not biking you’ll spend time swimming and cliff jumping, hanging out around the campfire, eating, enjoying new friends and making intentional connections between Creation and the Creator.

Schedule Overview

Day 1: Friday

Mount Shasta and Shastice Trails

Approximately 14 miles with 1000 feet of climbing

DESCRIPTION:
We’ll meet in the town of Mount Shasta at Shastice Park between 2-3pm. Our guides will discuss the rules of bike safety and specific mountain tips for riding. You’ll spend some time familiarizing yourself with the group and your guides will make sure that you and your bike are the perfect fit. Please pack your bike clothes and riding equipment in a separate, easily accessible bag. Today’s ride takes you to the purpose built Shastice Bike trails, a network of smooth, fast, winding singletrack that will offer a perfect introduction to the weekend. Post-ride, we’ll take a dip in the lake and enjoy a hearty meal together at one of Mount Shasta’s most popular restaurants. After dinner we’ll transfer to Kidder Creek, settle into our lodging, enjoy a campfire and relax.

Day 2: Saturday

Mount Ashland Downhill with Jabberwocky 

Approximately 13 miles with 500 feet of climbing

DESCRIPTION:
After a hearty breakfast and devotional you’ll start with a morning shuttle up to the summit of Mount Ashland. After a few short climbs, you will descend down one of the northwest's most fun trails through a network of natural trail and smooth, flowy singletrack. A second shuttle brings you back up the hill for a second lap or take time in the afternoon to enjoy downtown Ashland and Lithia Park. After riding we’ll enjoy cooling off in the creek followed by dinner in town together. That evening we’ll transfer back to Kidder Creek for another campfire and a time of reflection.

Day 3: Sunday

Kidder Creek Loop

Approximately 9 miles with 1,200 feet of climbing

DESCRIPTION:
This morning's ride offers a great opportunity to spin out your legs after two big days of mountain biking. Right from Kidder Creek we’ll hop on our on-site trail network which offers a tranquil backdrop for smooth trails and a whispering breeze amongst the pine trees. After our morning ride we’ll enjoy a hearty brunch then you'll say goodbye to your guides before checking out.

Skill Level

We want everyone to have an enjoyable weekend and recognize that there is a diversity of skill and fitness levels that may be interested in the retreat. We recommend this retreat for folks with the following fitness level and skills.

My fitness level: I am comfortable on 3-5 hour rides at a moderate pace, of 8-14 miles in length with a few short anaerobic climbs throughout. I get out for exercise about 3 days a week.

My skill level: I have been mountain biking for at least two years and am able to control my speed and direction on moderately steep and technical singletrack trails. I am comfortable descending on loose or uneven terrain, including rocks, gravel, tree roots and small drops.
 

What to Bring

Clothing:
Pack for all potential riding weather, including rain. Bring riding gloves and eye protection. Swimsuit for aquatic adventures and comfy casual clothing for post-ride. Cabins are unheated so bring layers for cool nights and morning.

Hydration:
Make sure you have a hydration pack or water bottles, and ideally fill them before coming so you’re ready to ride.

Snacks:
We’ll set you up with delicious CLIF organic trail mix bars, but if you’d prefer to have additional snacks, please bring them along. Note that most of the bars that we have are gluten free but do contain nuts and traces of dairy.

Sundry:
Consider sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and similar things to keep you comfortable in various conditions.

Trail Helmet:
Bring a trail helmet for pedal oriented riding and your eye protection.

Arm and Leg Protection:
If you have your own, feel free to bring it with you. If not most of the trail surfaces are forgiving.

Tubes and Tools:
Bring two spare tubes in case you get a flat, and basic riding tools if you have them. If not, you can rely on the guides. Also please bring a few spare chain links for the chain on your bike.

Bike:
Have your bike checked and tuned by a bike shop mechanic before you come to the retreat so that it’s in great working order and you’re set up for success. If you’re choosing between bikes and looking for guidance on the best one to bring call us and we’ll help you decide. Take Exit 738 off I-5. Turn toward town off the ramp onto West Lake Ave. Stay straight on West Lake Ave which turns into East Lake Ave after crossing Mt Shasta Blvd. Merge Left onto N Washington Dr. Turn Right onto Rockfellow Drive before the High School. At 800 Rockfellow turn Left into Shastice Park. Follow the main road through the park to the Skate Park parking lot where you will find the Kidder Creek Camp Crew.
