Fall Adult Conference
Provides Active Mid-Week Get-Away

November 6-8, 2007

Join other adults in the majestic redwoods of Mount Hermon at the Fall Adult Conference. This midweek retreat at the Conference Center offers special insight for continuing growth as a Christian, plus encouragement and opportunities to meet new friends. Planned specifically for married and single adults in their middle and senior years, this conference promotes an intimate atmosphere and a Christian spirit of acceptance.

Resource Staff

John Fischer, known  first as a singer/songwriter, recording artist and pioneer of Jesus Music, has a career that spans over thirty-five years of distinctive ministry.  He is also a best-selling author, and a popular speaker at conferences, retreats, churches and colleges/universities nationally.  He was also recently Senior Writer with PurposeDrivenLife.com, which specializes in a daily devotional that now reaches an audience of over 400,000 people five times a week.

John's body of work includes 12 albums, 15 books, and numerous articles for a variety of publications. His early songs such as “Love Him in the Morning” (“All Day Song”), and “Have You Seen Jesus My Lord?” have become standard youth and camp favorites. His books include the best-selling Real Christians Don't Dance and his popular novel, Saint Ben. For over 23 years, he was a clarion call for the growing Christian music industry from his regular award-winning monthly column in Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) magazine. In addition to his writing for his own daily column ("Catch of the Day") John also writes for Chuck Colson's Breakpoint.org and for Relevant magazine. John's fifteenth book, Confessions of a Caffeinated Christian, was released in 2005 by Tyndale House Publishers.

He now resides with his wife, Marti and their son, Chandler, in Laguna Beach, California. They also have two adult children, Christopher and Anne.

Ken Carter returns as our worship leader and vocal soloist for the conference. Ken is a leading bass/baritone soloist in opera and oratorio, and minister of music at Saratoga (CA) Presbyterian Church. He has led music at Mount Hermon often in recent years, and is founder and arranger for a male trio, "Opus Dei."

Hosts of the conference are Dave & Carla Talbott. Dave is in his 31st year at Mount Hermon, now as associate director of advancement and resident musician, and is an accomplished piano and organ recording artist. Carla is the decorating coordinator of all of Mount Hermon’s interiors. They have two grown daughters and five grandchildren.

Dave will assist Ken Carter as piano accompanist for our dynamic worship times. Ken and Dave will also present a combined concert for voice, piano, and organ on Wednesday evening, using the new four-manual Rodgers Organ, recently donated to Mount Hermon.  And we just might convince John Fischer to haul out his guitar for some nostalgia music.

Special seminars of interest to “empty nesters” and grandparents will be offered by experts in the field.
