Dear Potential Family Camper,

I’m addressing you particularly because I want to invite you with great sincerity and enthusiasm to join us this summer for family camp at Mount Hermon.

For decades (alright…a century), Mount Hermon has provided quality experiences where families have come together to enjoy one another in God’s beautiful redwood forests by the beach.

Some come with their extended family of relatives for a reunion of loved ones whose homes are scattered about the country. Others come with a church family and go home with deeper and more meaningful bonds as a result of their shared experience. Many come hurting, looking for a safe place to heal and be refreshed. Some find answers to questions they hadn’t even had the courage to frame. All hear the Word of God and have the opportunity to embrace it and be changed by it.

Peace,

Lisa Olson
Director of Program Ministries

Family Camp Summer 2009 at Mount Hermon

Come and experience the excitement of a Mount Hermon Family Camp! We offer outstanding Child Care, Day Camp, and Youth tracks. Expanded Collegiate offerings are a part of the summer as well. Fabulous speakers, seminar leaders and musicians make a week of Family Camp an experience you won't forget! Plan on great times together as a family enjoying BBQ's, outdoor Pancake Breakfasts, and great meals in the Mount Hermon Dining Room. Flex breakfasts and Salad Bars at lunch and dinner are a great feature of these weeks.

Fun family experiences include hikes, train rides to Santa Cruz, family games, campfires and S'mores! Family portraits are offered each week so you can catalog your memories and get a head start on next year's Christmas picture! Climbing wall and ropes course experiences are available in the open recreation hours, as is boating on Zayante Creek and swimming in the Conference Center swimming pool. The Santa Cruz beach is located six miles from Mount Hermon for the salt water crowd!

Jack PearsonJack Pearson has been coming to Mount Hermon summer family camps for 22 years. A resident of Minneapolis, MN, he is a songwriter, recording artist, and storyteller who is extremely popular with both kids and adults. He sings in our general sessions, presents workshops on creativity and "telling your own story," and entertains at pancake breakfasts, as well as for the kids at Day Camp and at family campfires. He is equally at home on the banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and harmonica, not to mention rhythm spoons and other noise makers!

Single parents find special encouragement, with seminars and support times. Families that desire a broader "family gathering" come as extended family groups and enjoy a reunion where lodging and meals are taken care of for you!

Look over the listing of Family Weeks and determine to experience Mount Hermon with your family this summer! Partial financial assistance is available through our Campership Fund, by request.

For Single Parents
"Single Parent's Support Group" is part of every Family Camp. Single parents can meet and share common concerns, enjoy mutual support and share resources. A pastoral/counseling facilitator leads sessions. Plan to attend and grow as a parent and as a family.

For Children and Youth
Child Care for ages 0-5 and Day Camp for grades 1-6 are available at each Family Camp. A caring, trained staff provides age-appropriate activities, Bible stories, and learning projects. Some family sessions may include grade schoolers, so they can participate in extended family learning. For junior high and senior high students, there are separate youth meetings and special activities. Youth directors plan fun games, skits, and music with Bible study and discussion. At times the youth groups take part in major family sessions.

Housing and Dining Options
There are several options for accommodations and dining. The most popular option is the Package Plan, which includes housing, conference dining, and program fees.  Those in private cabins may do their own cooking, or join the family camp dining experience, as space is available. A detailed rate sheet with all housing and dining options and prices is available on request.

  • Master Deluxe: Larger rooms equipped with refrigerators and coffee makers. Linens and daily housekeeping service are provided.

Camperships for your Family
Life is full of surprises and challenges.  Often times those challenges impact our family finances, and as a result, tough priority decisions must be made.  We believe so strongly that your family will be blessed and strengthened by a Family Camp experience that we have developed a special Campership Fund for times such as these.  Families just like yours, and many who have benefited from the Campership Fund, are now generously giving back to ensure that all families have the opportunity to experience Family Camp.  To learn more, or to request an application, please contact the friendly staff in our Registration Office.

Call the Registration Office for information and reservations, Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Toll-free at 888-MH-CAMPS, or locally at 831-335-4466.  (Summer hours are 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m.)

Want to Come Early or Stay Late?
Enjoy an extra night at Mount Hermon, before or after your family camp, and get in on our relaxing Mini-Vacation. It features an outstanding Saturday night buffet dinner or outdoor barbecue and concert, plus overnight in your same unit, and breakfast Sunday morning.
