Amicus Program
Amicus is Latin for friend, for someone who comes alongside. The Amicus program is an opportunity for family and friends to offer financial support while you are on summer staff. Involvement in the Amicus program is voluntary. You do not have to participate in the program in order to be on summer staff.

Here is how it works:
You will be asked to select 1 of 2 options if you are hired to be on summer staff.

  • Option 1: Mount Hermon will pay you a weekly salary (a minimum of $175 per week, plus we provide room and board);
  • Option 2: Mount Hermon will pay you a weekly salary (plus provide room and board), and you will be able to raise up to an additional $1,000.00 in support.

If you select Option 2: you'll be asked to give the names and contact information of at least 20 people. We'll put together a support packet for you, then have you personalize it (e.g. add a personal note) before mailing out the packets. Halfway through the summer you will receive a list of people who are supporting you, and you'll be asked to send each person on your list a thank-you postcard.

Your support packet will let donors know that you are able to:

  • Raise up to a maximum of $1,000.00 in additional support;
  • When someone donates money: 80% will go to you; 20% will be used to help fund salaries for summer staff, plus cover the administrative costs of the program;
  • All monies received above your $1,000 maximum will be used to help fund salaries for summer staff;
  • All donations are tax-deductible.

When will you receive your Amicus funds?
Any available money donated to you will be added to your final paycheck.

Feel free to contact Jacquie if you have any questions about the Amicus program.
