Redwood Camp

Located in a redwood forest where Zayante and Bean Creeks meet, Redwood Camp hosts a number of week long sessions for primary (grades 2-4) and junior (grades 4-6) students.

Approximately 40 college-aged students are hired to work as counselors, as well as a number of support and program positions. All summer staff positions are paid, and include room and board.  Summer staff members also have the opportunity to raise additional support through our Amicus program.

The number of counselors is decreasing from 28 to 25 (see Echo). Two program directors will be hired (one to be the director for primary aged campers; the other director for junior aged campers). There are several changes to the Program positions, please see job descriptions to the right of this column.

Positions Available at Redwood Camp

Redwood Counselor
At least 19 years old. Prior experience with primary or junior age students. Lead Bible studies, teach camp skill/sport. Able to articulate what it means to have a relationship with Christ. Responsible for physical and spiritual welfare of 7 campers/week. Rotate to non-counseling position every third week

Redwood Support
Head Caterer 
Mature individual with food service experience. Possess a current driver's license. Possess sufficient physical strength to lift heavy objects.
Assistant Caterer Assist caterer. Posses sufficient physical strength to lift heavy objects.

Redwood Program
Assistant Director Assist the Director within summer program and facility. Plan and conduct the camp program, train and supervise of the summer staff. Build relationships with church leadership, parents and campers. Promote program to the community.
Activities Coordinator  Experienced in leading sports and games. Responsible for skits, activity skills, and  theme development.
Adventure Coordinator
Oversee rope courses and challenge initiatives, train staff, maintain equipment.
Craft Coordinator  Prefer experience in providing crafts program for children. Train staff, keep crafts area cleaned and stocked, provide age appropriate crafts and instruction.
Lifeguard / Health Aide  Certified lifeguard. Distribute medications to campers. Assist in other areas as needed.
Nurse  Prefer RN, experience with primary and junior students helpful. Oversee health program.
Program Director (Junior age campers) Familiar with Redwood Camp. Work with the Assistant Director in the development and implementation of the junior age program.
Program Director (Primary age campers) Familiar with Redwood Camp. Work with the Assistant Director in the development and implementation of the primary age program.
Secretary  Basic secretarial skills, enjoy dealing with primary and junior campers and parents, cashier, type correspondence, registration procedures, sale of snacks, mailing reports, involvement in program.
Staff Counselor  One male and one female with experience in theology/bible studies and counseling college students. Support and counsel Redwood staff. Develop Bible studies, train staff in some counselor/ program responsibilities.
Worship Coordinator
  Lead worship. Ability to motivate, repertoire of fun and message songs appropriate for age groups, skills on guitar or piano.

Redwood Counselor rotation positions
In a three week period: two weeks will be spent counseling, one week in rotation, then returning for two more weeks of counseling. Counselors typically serve in the same rotation position all summer. 

  • Activity Assistant  Assist Activity Coordinator with activities, games, skits.
  • Catering Assistant  Assist in meal service at RWC
  • Lifeguard  Supervise pool areas, upkeep and cleaning of pool.
  • Nature  Care for animals/farm, lead field trips.
  • Outdoor Adventure  Assist Adventure with ropes courses, overnight program and hikes.
