Homeschool Outdoor Science

An Experience for the whole family.

For over ten years Mount Hermon Outdoor Science School has offered five-day programs for Homeschool families. We are available for families who choose to educate their children at home and understand there is a broad diversity in how this is accomplished. We have designed our program to complement a wide range of Homeschool curriculums.

  • Important Information

Weather: The weather at Mount Hermon will often change rapidly! Students will be outdoors for the full duration of all of their classes. They will need to bring layers and appropriate gear with them on all hikes and activities. Yearly temperatures can range from the 30’s to the 100’s. During the fall months, temperatures usually range from 50-80 during the day and 40-60 at night, although temperatures outside this range are also normal. During the winter/spring months, it gets very cold and we see the most rain.

Nearby Facilities: The cities of Felton and Scotts Valley are 5 and 10 minutes away respectively and offer all of the basic needs as well as a variety of grocery store options. There is also a Costco and Trader Joe’s in Santa Cruz, 15 minutes away. All cabins have fully functioning and stocked kitchens and parents will have the opportunity to leave camp.

Cell Service and Internet: Cell phone service is unreliable at Mount Hermon unless you have coverage through AT&T. Wireless internet is available around the conference center main grounds.
