Wrangler in Training

Summer 2024
Be mentored by wranglers in horse care, arena lessons and trail rides that will improve your own horsemanship skills. At the same time serve through teaching and assisting young riders. Develop spiritually through special activities and a curriculum that emphasizes leadership, team building and intentional spiritual growth.
Must have attended Advanced Rider camp before becoming a wrangler in training.* There is also an application process. Please email Danna Ayers to access the application.

*If you feel you are ready to be a WIT but have not attended Advanced Riders in the past, you can reach out to the camp to seek an exemption.

  • Camperships

    Please do not let finances get in the way of a Mount Hermon experience. Through the generosity of many, a partial grant from the Campership Fund may be just the gift you need to make it possible for you to attend camp.

  • Payment Policy
    • Deposits: A non-refundable/non-transferable deposit will be required to complete your registration. Please have a payment method ready to go during the registration process. We accept Visa, MasterCard, or an Electronic Check. Deposits are $150 per child.
    • Total Balance Due 30 Days Out: The total of your itinerary will be due 30 days before the start date of your week of camp. On this day, your account will automatically be charged the remainder of your balance.
    • Cancellations and Changes:
      Until 30 days prior to the event, the non-refundable deposit $150 is retained.
      From 29 days until 22 days prior to event, $225.00 is retained.
      From 21 days until 8 days prior to event, $325.00 is retained.
      If within 7 days of the event, the entire registration cost.
    • Transfer Fees: In the event that you decide to change the week in which your child is attending camp there will be a transfer fee of $25.

Before Getting to Camp

  • Packing List
    • Warm sleeping bag and pillow
    • Warm-weather and cool-weather clothes
    • Jeans for riding
    • Jacket
    • Modest swimsuit (one-piece swimsuit for girls)
    • Shower/beach towel
    • Bathroom supplies (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste)
    • Sunscreen
    • Walking shoes and/or tennis shoes for vaulting
    • Riding boots (cover ankles, smooth sole, 1” heel)
    • Sandals for pond (flip flops ok)
    • Flashlight
    • Bible w/pen or pencil

    *Please mark all items, including luggage, with camper's first and last name

    Optional Items: Inexpensive or disposable camera. Put name on camera

    Items NOT to Bring:

    • Cell Phones or ANY electronics
    • Expensive cameras
    • Alcohol, drugs
    • Firearms, knives, weapons of any kind
  • Roommate Policy

    Up to 3 friends can room together in the same cabin.

    Roommate requests will be available in May. Each parent of a registered child will receive an email at that time explaining how to complete the roommate request online.

  • Important Food Policies
    • We will provide a vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free option at every meal. For Celiac, we will do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee against cross contamination.
    • We are a peanut safe camp. We will not serve any peanut product out of the kitchen.
    • Please make sure you have listed the allergies in the medical forms when you register online.

Arrival & Departure

  • Arrival
    • Camp starts the first Sunday of your selected session with check-in beginning at 4:00 PM
    • Put this address in your GPS: 2700 S Kidder Creek Rd, Etna, CA 96027
  • Departure
    • Ranch camp closing will begin with the Showdeo at 4:30 PM followed by a BBQ at 5 PM.
    • The BBQ $8 per person, sign ups and payment can be done in your child's account.
    • Families are invited to join us for the showdeo and BBQ. You can add your BBQ meal in registration.
  • Bus Transportation

    Bus Transportation from the Bay Area to Kidder Creek and back is available for an extra fee.
