This lower, scaled down challenge course is designed with the young adventurer in mind. It consists of 7 different high ropes elements that range from 5 to 20 feet above ground, and ends in a zipline.
Basketball and volleyball courts are located in the gymnasium on the first floor of the McAfee Fieldhouse.
Many beautiful stream-side trails among the redwoods and ferns are located at Mount Hermon. Trail maps are available at the Front Desk.

Two miles of easily accessible path along the scenic santa cruz coast. West Cliff Drive is a popular Santa Cruz destination for both visitors and locals alike. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll along cliffs while you take in the wonderful ocean views. You can picnic in the park, visit Lighthouse Field and the Surfer’s Museum located in the lighthouse.
The path starts at the Natural Bridges State Park and covers visual and physical access to cycling, skating, walking, tide pools, beach, kite flying, fishing, Frisbee, boogie and skim boarding, dogs playing on the beach, and marine life.

Roaring camp is nestled in the santa cruz mountains right across the street from mount hermon. Just across Graham Hill Road lies a re-creation of an 1880’s logging town with trains operating every day of the year except for Christmas Day. Roaring Camp is a heritage railway with authentic 1880’s steam locomotives operating our Redwood Forest Steam Train excursion and 1920’s era Beach Trains to Santa Cruz. Enjoy this picturesque piece of history with a general store, visits from the town Marshall, Chuckwagon BBQ, and daily train rides.
Parking is $10, though the half-mile walk from Mount Hermon only takes about 15 minutes. Roaring Camp is located right next to Henry Cowell State Park so you can easily walk from one to the other.

This beach, with its famous natural bridge, is an excellent vantage point for viewing shore birds, migrating whales, and seals and otters playing offshore. The park also includes a large area of coastal scrub and grasslands, with bright native wildflowers in the spring. Low tides reveal sea stars, crabs, sea anemones, and other colorful ocean life.
The park’s Monarch Grove provides a temporary home for up to 100,000 Monarch Butterflies. From late fall into winter, the Monarchs form a “city in the trees.” The area’s mild seaside climate and eucalyptus grove provide a safe place for Monarchs to roost until spring.

This park features 15 miles of hiking and riding trails through a variety of forested areas including redwoods, mixed evergreens, riparian, ponderosa pine, as well as rare ancient marine deposits called Santa Cruz sandhills.
From Mount Hermon head down Conference Dr. toward Felton. Turn right on Graham Hill Road and drive .3 miles. Turn left on Highway 9 and drive .6 miles. Turn left on N. Big Tree Park Rd. Continue to parking lot. Parking is $10.

History comes to life as you stroll down cannery row exploring the shops and restaurants in monterey. Step outside the Aquarium and you are on Cannery Row, where John Steinbeck drew inspiration for his novel about life in Monterey during the heyday of the sardine canning industry. Today “The Row” is lined with hotels, shops and restaurants and features fun activities for the entire family.
Past and present alike influence the architecture, cuisine and attractions as Cannery Row continues to celebrate the unshakable spirit on which it was founded.

The city’s wharf and riverside areas remind one of a village in France or perhaps a Mediterranean coast in Italy. Capitola Village is located along a wide beach with a breathtaking view of Monterey Bay and is home to numerous craft galleries, boutiques and restaurants.
Directions from Highway 17 south, take exit 1b for Highway 1 south and drive 3.2 miles. Take exit 437 Bay Ave. Turn right on Bay Ave. and drive .6 miles. Take a slight right on Monterey St. and drive .3 miles.

An exquisite spot for hiking, 1,250 acres of shoreline reserve with coves, beaches, wildlife and tide pools. ideal for exploring, picnics and photography. Deriving its name from the offshore rocks at Punta de los Lobos Marinos, Point of the Sea Wolves, where the sound of the sea lions carries inland, the reserve has often been called “the crown jewel of the State Park system.” Point Lobos has offered many things to millions of people who have visited it over the years.
Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is outstanding for sightseeing, photography, painting, nature study, picnicking, SCUBA diving, and jogging. In addition to the spectacular beauty, nearly every aspect of its resources is of scientific interest. There are rare plant communities, endangered archeological sites, unique geological formations, and incredibly rich flora and fauna of both land and sea.
