Smart & Powerful Giving

Did you know there are smart and powerful ways to increase the impact of your giving – often while benefiting your family, too? By understanding the available options, you can multiply the end results of your generosity in ways that are simple, flexible, cost-effective and powerful. During this session, Barnabas Foundation will cover gifts that reduce taxes, gifts that pay income, and gifts from your will or trust.

Travis Morrow

With 19 years of law practice, Travis Morrow brings significant experience in estate planning to our ministry. Travis works out of Barnabas Foundation’s office in Solvang, California. He is a member of the estate planning section of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association and the estates and trusts section of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association.

Travis is a veteran of both the Coast Guard and Air Force, where he served as a judge advocate general, and continues to serve as a reserve officer in the Air National Guard. He holds a juris doctorate from Cornell Law School and a bachelor’s degree from California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo.

Changing the WHYS of Ill Health

Have you wondered WHY your cholesterol is high, your blood sugar may be on the rise, you have more aches and pains or fatigue and your get up and go seems to be dwindling? Or maybe you have a more complex medical illness that has left you wondering how this ever happened to you? A question to ask yourself is “what is causing that” rather than “what do I take for that?”

The WHYS of ill health may seem simple but in our complex world they are becoming more complicated and challenging. In this three-session workshop Susan will unwind the history of ill health, give concrete information for how to rebuild or fortify your health for the future, and show you how being the healthiest version of yourself will empower and enable you to leave a legacy for your loved ones.

In this Major Track you will:

  • Learn to identify things in diet and environment that are impacting your health
  • Receive concrete examples for how to change your health in the short and long term
  • Receive health checklists to consider for optimal health and well-being

Gun Lap!

Rekindling Purpose for the Most Important Miles of Your Life

Most people don’t think much about the final third of life until they’re in it. And yet, biblically and practically, these years may hold our greatest Kingdom potential.

In long-distance racing, when the lead runner begins his final lap, the starter fires a second shot. It’s called the gun lap; the moment when everything that’s happened so far matters, but what you do next matters most. It’s the runner’s opportunity to run with wisdom, with intention, and with nothing left in the tank.

In this three-session journey, Gary will help you step into your gun lap with clarity, courage, and a fresh sense of calling. Whether you’re squarely in your last third or you’re younger and wise enough to prepare for it now, you will learn:

  • Reclaim the purpose God still has marked out for you
  • Identify what matters most—and what must be released
  • Cultivate a legacy that blesses generations
  • Finish with joy, strength, and Kingdom impact
  • Run your remaining laps with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1)

Gun Lap is for men and women who refuse to drift toward the finish line. It’s for those who want to live the rest of their lives awake, grateful, and fully surrendered to Jesus.

Telling Your Story

A part of leaving a legacy is telling people your story. It may be the most important part. We learn not only how to tell a story, but how to tell your story. You may want to tell your story in writing, or on video, or on audio, or in a scrapbook, or whatever. Every good story has a beginning, a middle and an end. So come join us and we’ll discover together how to turn memories into legacy.

In this Major Track, you will:

  • Learn how to identify the key markers in your life the make your story
  • Learn how to craft a narrative that creates a compelling story
  • Hear options about how to best share your story with loved ones
